Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) Open Day 2012 which was held from 24 April 2012, came to a closing on 26 April 2012 with a closing ceremony graced by the Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Y.B. Dato' Hasan Malek.
This annual event which was organised to provide exposure to the public about the programmes offered by UniKL BMI, received a positive crowd where its visitors include students from various schools in its vicinity.
This three-day event also seeks to inform the public particularly high school students as well as school leavers who intends to pursue their higher education in the field of Engineering Technology on its prospects and importance in related industries.
Addressing staff and students in UniKL BMI, Y.B. Dato' Hasan Malek conveyed his hopes for UniKL to continue to mould innovative and competitive graduates for the future, "The government with the continuous support from its people has initiated a lot of efforts to boost the education sector in general. Therefore, I personally hope that UniKL as one of the leading technical universities in the country will continue to strive in achieving excellence in both academic and non-academic fields, too keep producing excellent young engineers that are capable to contribute to the success and growth of our country", he said.
Throughout the three-day event, a host of activities were organised namely career carnival, science and environment day, engineers day, exhibitions of students' projects, cost saving campaign, entrepreneurship carnival and series of informative seminars. Also present at the closing ceremony were UniKL Deputy President (Technopreneur and Student Affairs), Prof. Ahmad Zahir Hj. Mokhtar, Dean of UniKL BMI, Prof. Dr. Badri Abu Bakar and distinguished guests from MARA.
