News : UniKL bids Farewell to Dato’ Hakim


Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) bids farewell to Prof. Dato' Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri, its second President / CEO on January 31, 2013. In a farewell reception held on Dato' Hakim's last day in office, Director General of MARA, YBhg. Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad expressed a highest gratitude to Dato' Hakim for his outstanding contribution to the university. He also hoped that Dato' Hakim will continue to give an unwavering support to UniKL.
During his tenure as the President / CEO, Dato' Hakim introduced a new tag line for the university "Where Knowledge is Applied" symbolising UniKL's uniqueness. Under his leadership, UniKL recorded various significant achievements which span from expansion in number of campuses, increased in students' enrolment and graduates produced, improved financial capability and maintained tier 5 SETARA rating just to name a few.
Prof. Dato' Dr. Hakim joined UniKL in October 2002 as the Deputy President (Academic) and later promoted to Senior Deputy President in February 2004. He became the President / CEO of UniKL on 1st September 2005, taking over the responsibility from Dato' Seri Dr. Ibrahim Saad, the founding President / CEO of UniKL. Prof. Dato' Hakim strongly believes in a student-centred, self-directed and application-oriented teaching / learning approach for preparing technical graduates to cope with rapid technological changes.

Also present at the reception were UniKL Chairman, YB Datuk Dr. Adham Baba, Deputy Secretary General from Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, YBhg. Dato' Nursiah Arshad, UniKL Board members, UniKL new President / CEO, Prof. Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud and senior management officials of UniKL. Prof. Dato' Hakim will be pursuing his career in East Malaysia and he will be certainly missed by all staff and students of the university.
