Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UnIKL MIMET) in collaboration with VALE Malaysia Minerals Sdn Bhd (VALE) had conferred the Certificate of Completion to the 1st batch of VALE Apprenticeship Programme consisting of 61 apprentices on February 14, 2013. These successful apprentices had undergone technical training in the fields of Electrical, Mechanical, Automation and Cargo Operations for 6 months from July 2012 till December 2012 in the apprenticeship programme. They had completed the course excellently and will continue their On Job Training programme for a year including 6 months in either Oman or Brazil. In celebration of the certified apprentices, the auspicious ceremony also welcomes 82 new apprentices for the 2nd batch of the programme.
Speaking at the Ceremony, Dean/Head of Campus, UniKL MIMET, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Mansor Salleh, stressed that in materialising the dreams to become a prestigious university in the South-East Asia, the support from various parties particularly from industries are vital. The solid relationship between UniKL MIMET and VALE has created history that benefits both the industry and UniKL. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Mansor welcomed and congratulated 82 students of the 2nd Batch of the Apprenticeship Programme and 54 Junior Apprenticeship Programme students who will also be joining another apprenticeship programme soon.

VALE's Director & Country Manager, Mr. Marcelo Figueiredo in his speech said, VALE Apprenticeship Programme aimed to produce the local workforce for the operation of the VALE Distribution Centre at Teluk Rubiah. Mr. Marcelo also added that he is proud that VALE can contribute to the development of the local community in Manjung and the state of Perak, generally.
Also present at the ceremony were YDH Toh Muda Orang Kaya-Kaya Panglima Kinta Seri Amar Bangsa Di Raja Ab Wahab bin Dato' Seri Azizul Hassan, Orang Besar Jajahan Manjung; Puan Rusnah Yusoff, Director of MARA Perak; Mr. Andre Kopperschmidt, General Manager Pre-operation (Vale) and Mr. Jose Mariotto, Executive Project Leader (Vale).
