KAJANG, 20 Jun 2016- Smiles were exchanged and kindness spread as UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) organised the UniKL Ramadan Project in correspondence to the holy month this year. The event, under the UniKL's Universiti Social Responsibility (USR) arm, UniKL CARE, was done with the collaboration of the Department of Social Works, Hospital Kajang.
The event was made even more memorable with the presence of YBhg. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud, President and CEO of UniKL, YBhg. Dr. Md Fikri Abu Bakar, Deputy Director of the Medical department, Hospital Kajang and Prof. Madya Dr. Jamel Othman, Dean of UniKL MFI, top management, volunteers comprising of staff and students of UniKL.
A total of 35 wheelchairs were donated to selected medical departments and 30 food packets were distributed to patients and their families of the hospital with Hospital Kajang staff receiving a box of dates each. Funding for the event was collected through contributions of UniKL staff and the general public.

As an institute of higher learning, UniKL realises that besides the fundamental of teaching and learning as the core responsibility of the university, it also has a bigger role to play in the development of society and advancement of the community. The contribution to Hospital Kajang is one of the many programmes being conducted by UniKL in regards to social and community service.

UniKL wishes to inculcate the culture of giving within the university, be it among staff or students. UniKL does not limit itself to the running of successful academic programmes only but also communcal based programmes. UniKL believes that through such programmes, we are not only able to develop human capital who are highly knowledgeable but also noble personality.
Dato' Mazliham in his address to those present said, "Besides spreading kindness in the holy month of Ramadan, this event is also an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between staff of UniKL and Hospital Kajang as well as patients who are receiving treatment here. This is our continuous effort and commitment to the community around us and this efforts will be carried on from time to time."
