UniKL International offers the International Exchange Programme to expose students to the best of international community, cultures and practices beyond their boundaries.

How To Apply

Students must apply for the mobility at the home university and once approved, should complete the ‘UniKL Inbound Application Form' together with the following documents and submit to


  1. Copy of Passport 
    -   All the pages in color; 
    -   Validity of the passport should exceed expiry date by 12 months (from the expected date of your arrival in Malaysia);

  2. Two (2) passport size of photos
    -   Please refer to the requirements given by the Immigration 

  3. Nomination letter as Exchange Student from the Home University
  4. Proof of the Enrollment at the Home University
  5. Semester Results / Transcript (signed and stamped by the Home University)
  6. Curriculum Vitae
  7. Motivation Letter
  8. A copy of valid travel insurance before the start of the mobility
  9. UIO Form ISEM Learning Agreement - Inbound students – (signed and stamped by the Home University) 
  10. UIO Form ISEM Work Plan Proposal (Staff/Interns/Research students) 
  • Addition documents may be required by the Immigration or Visa Office during the application process.

A subject with 3 Credits;
  • 3 x 40 hrs SLT = 120 hrs SLT
  • 120 hrs SLT/(25 hrs SLT/ECTS) = 4.8 ECTS (approx. 5 ECTS)


Visa Requirements

UIO will give fully support to the students to settle their visa.

Please be informed that effective 15 August 2016, all students must obtain single entry pass  from the Malaysian Embassy of the Home Country prior to entry Malaysia.

As soon as we get all the required documents from the students, UIO will submit the complete application to EMGS, Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). Submission of documents can only be made 3 months prior to commencement of study/internship.

Upon receipt of the Approval Letter, UIO will notify the student and the Home University and send the letter accordingly.  

Student must immediately apply for a single entry pass from the Malaysian Embassy/ Malaysian Representative Office in the home country.

It is advised that, once the student obtained the single entry pass, he/she purchase the flight ticket and prepare himself/herself to join UniKL as an exchange student.

Please be aware that the whole process of the student pass application may take approximately 6/8 weeks. This duration is just estimation and it is dependent on EMGS and Immigration.


It is mandatory for all exchange students to have personal medical insurance: a copy of the insurance need to be sent to UIO before arrival at UniKL.
