News : The Humanitarian Aid Team Visits Amalina Sofea

On Friday, 19th December 2014 UniKL RCMP Humanitarian Aid Team members visited and handed over a donation of RM 500 to Amalina Sofea, the Semester Five student of Diploma in Pharmacy, who had been seriously injured in a road accident in 2014.

The HAT team was received by Puan Salemah Ali, Amalina Sofea's mother at their family home in Kajang, Selangor. According to Puan Salemah, presently Amalina Sofea is undergoing physiotherapy treatment at Kajang Hospital and she's getting stronger spiritually, mentally and physically day by day. As her condition is improving fast, Amalina hopes that she will be able to do her Semester 5 & 6 practical training at Kajang Hospital in September 2015.
Earlier Prof Dato' Dr Mazliham Suud, UniKL President and En Hishammudin Omar, UniKL RCMP CEO & Head of Campus visited Amalina Sofea and had given their consent on this matter. In addition, the President handed over a donation amounting to RM10,000 to Puan Salemah Ali, as a contribution from UniKL staff and students.

Amalina Sofea will forever remember the  morning of 8 October 2014, as an unfortunate day in her life. It was on that day that she met with an accident while on her way for practical training at the Kulim Hospital    in Kedah. The accident had left her with severe injuries including a badly broken right leg, loss of part of her little finger and broken ring finger and she had slipped into a coma and was in ICU for four days. While in ICU she had undergone two emergency surgeries to save her right leg.

On October 18, 2014, Amalina was transferred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further treatment and on October 22, 2014 the doctors decided to amputate her right leg. AS a result of this, she needed a prosthetic leg that cost around RM 10,000.
In response to her predicament, UniKL RCMP Humanitarian Aid Team had called for a donation and managed to contribute RM 500 to lessen her burden and financial difficulties.

We wish Amalina a speedy recovery and hope that she stays strong so that she can come back to complete her studies as soon as possible.
